Barangaroo South wins The International Architecture Award for urban planning and landscape architecture

Barangaroo South was recently awarded with The International Architecture Award, regarded internationally as one of the most prestigious building awards program. Barangaroo South was shortlisted from the 380 entrants and won the award for urban planning and landscape architecture. Eight other projects were also recipients of the award.

The project was submitted for the Awards by Aspect Studios | OCULUS, who led the public realm design of the streets, squares, waterfront edges and public places of Barangaroo South. Their design of the public realm has been recognised for balancing density and amenity in its unique city and harbour location.

The projects on the shortlist were judged by a distinguished jury of Lithuanian architects, educators and critics against a range of criteria including design vision, innovation and originality, and capacity to stimulate, engage and delight occupants and visitors.

The Awards are organised by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Founded in 2005. It is the oldest, annual public celebration of global architecture that sees thousands of practices and organisations around the world compete for the title of "Global Building of the Year."
