Water Security for Regions

The NSW Government’s Water Security for Regions program, part of the Restart NSW Fund, has been set up to improve water security.

Under Water Security for Regions, $366 million has been reserved to help communities prepare for further drought conditions.

Projects including augmenting dams, pipeline and bore works and water efficiency mechanisms are being funded to help farmers and regional industries deal with drier conditions.

In October 2016 Minister for Primary Industries, Lands and Water, Niall Blair,  approved a range of infrastructure upgrades to help clear a backlog of water and sewerage projects in regional areas, under the NSW Government’s $110 million Regional Water and Wastewater Backlog Program. Up to $225 million in funding has been a to 68  projects, to October 2016.
